Mariah Carey abruptly cancels concert after falling ill: ‘It breaks my heart’

Mariah Carey had to temporarily say “Bye Bye” to her fans in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The Grammy winner came down with symptoms of the flu and canceled her concert on Wednesday only hours before she was set to take the stage.
“Pittsburgh, I am sorry to say, I’ve come down with the flu,” Carey wrote in a statement shared via X.
“It breaks my heart that I unfortunately have to cancel tonight’s show. I love you all so much.”
The 55-year-old is currently on her Christmas Time tour which takes the songstress across 20 different cities in the United States.
Carey famously goes all out for the holiday season as her hit song “All I Want for Christmas Is You” has become synonymous with the month of December.
On Tuesday, while performing in Raleigh, NC, Mimi celebrated the song returning to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Carey commemorated the milestone moment by bringing her twins Moroccan and Monroe, 13, on stage. She later shared a clip of the moment via Instagram on Tuesday.
“Last night on stage in Raleigh, North Carolina, I found out that All I Want For Christmas Is You returned to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100,” she captioned the post.
“I couldn’t have dreamed of a better time or place to celebrate the news than on stage with my amazing fans, my kids and my #Christmastime tour family. I love you and am so grateful to you all ❤️❤️❤️ M.”
Her children — whom she welcomed with ex-husband Nick Cannon — presented their mom with flowers on stage and embraced Carey in front of her screaming fans.
“Thank you! Wow that was the perfect moment to find that out!” she said while accepting the flowers from her kids. “Well thank you to everybody who made that possible.”
The “We Belong Together” singer has three shows left on the tour including performances in Newark, NJ, Belmont Park, NY, and Brooklyn, NY.
Carey will perform on Dec. 13, 15 and 17, respectively, before she concludes her trip around the US.
Last week, the mother of two took to Instagram to celebrate the 30th anniversary of her 1994 album, “Merry Christmas.”
“You know I don’t know numbers but I’m really proud to celebrate 30 years of this album,” Carey captioned the photo of the original album cover.
“I’m so grateful to all my fans who spent many of their Christmases with these songs.”
