Joe Burrow Speaks Out After His Home Was Burglarized While He Was at a Game

Joe Burrow is speaking out two days after his home was burglarized.
The Cincinnati Bengals quarterback, 28, addressed the Monday, Dec. 9 invasion of his Anderson Township, Ohio, property while speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Dec. 11.
“So obviously everybody has heard what has happened,” said Burrow about the incident that occurred while he was away in Texas for a game against the Dallas Cowboys.

“I feel like my privacy has been violated in more ways than one and way more is already out there than I would want out there and that I care to share so that’s all I got to say about that,” he added.
According to a police report obtained by PEOPLE, deputies with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to Burrow’s home after the mother of influencer and model Olivia Ponton called 911.
In police audio obtained by TMZ, Ponton’s mother could be heard telling a dispatcher that her daughter was “wondering what she should do, if she should be hiding or if she should be going outside.”
Ponton, 22, is later heard in a separate call saying, “Someone broke into my house… It’s like completely messed up.”

Ponton, who was described in the police report as an employee of Burrow, said she observed a “shattered bedroom window and the room ransacked” after arriving at the property. She would later provide a list to police of what was “possibly missing,” per the report.
PEOPLE reached out to representatives for Ponton and Burrow.
When asked if “the most frustrating thing” about the situation was how much information has been revealed, Burrow said Wednesday that was “part of it.”
“We live a public life, and you know, one of my least favorite parts of that is the lack of privacy and that has been difficult for me to deal with my entire career. Still learning, but I understand it’s a life that that we choose,” he said. “Doesn’t make it any easier to deal with.”

Another reporter asked if he questions his safety being that “this hasn’t just happened to you now like this is now a thing with professional athletes feeling targeted” — referencing Kansas City Chiefs players Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes‘ homes being burglarized within two days of one another in October.
“I’ve said everything I want to say about it,” Burrow replied.
