Since 2007, he has been pursuing his study of the score for motion pictures and television at the University of Southern California.

This is also where Ludwig met Ryan Coogler, who co-wrote and directed USC’s 2011 award-winning short film Fig (written by Alex George Pickering). Ludwig composed the score for them.

Following that, the two would collaborate on Fruitvale Station, Creed, and Black Panther. A few months after graduating from USC, he began assisting Theodore Shapiro, a composer known for films like Along Came Polly, The Devil Wears Prada and Idiocracy.

It was in 2009 that Ludwig scored the comedy Community that he gained his first break.

Several prestigious awards were given to this film, bringing Ludwig to the public’s attention.

A career breakthrough for Ludwig came after he composed Black Panther, which made $1.3 billion! Black Panther won the Academy Awards and Grammy Awards for Ludwig Goransson. Additionally, he appeared in the Rocky franchise films Creed and Creed II.

Goransson is currently earning attention and fame for composing the 2020 film, Tenet. Furthermore, Justin Timberlake collaborated with him on the original score of the 2020 film –the Trolls World Tour.

The film is the first by Coogler, who graduated from USC with Göransson in 2013. Coogler’s critically acclaimed drama Fruitvale Station, about Oscar Grant, 22-year-old, ended in tragedy when he was shot to death on 1 January 2009, featured Göransson’s score.

At the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, the film won both the Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award in the Dramatic category, as well as the Avenir Prize and Un Certain Regard at the Cannes Film Festival.

According to an August 2013 contract, Göransson is a composer for Jay-Z’s record label, Roc Nation. His music for the film We’re the Millers was also composed in that same year.

Their next collaboration was on the critically acclaimed Rocky franchise film Creed released in 2015. A few years later, he had scored True Memoirs of an International Assassin, Central Intelligence, and Everything, Everything.

For their third collaboration, Black Panther, Göransson and Coogler teamed up in 2018. A traditional superhero score and traditional African instrumentation served as Göransson’s inspiration for this piece. For this purpose, he traveled to Senegal to learn about traditional African instruments and music.

Baaba Maal, whose voice is featured in the music, sings in Fula, the native language of the musician.

After becoming familiar with the International Library of African Music, founded by Hugh Tracey, he traveled to South Africa in order to listen to traditional musicians and ensure that the score matches culturally. Among Göransson’s wins was the Oscar for Best Original Score for Black Panther in 2019.

It was announced on 22 May 2019 that owing to Hans Zimmer’s commitment to Denis Villeneuve’s Dune, a new film score was composed by Ludwig Göransson for Christopher Nolan’s Tenet. With Justin Timberlake, he composed original songs for the movie Trolls World Tour.

The Mandalorian is a Star Wars television series set within the Disney+ universe and Göransson composes the score. He also wrote the fanfare for the franchises’ logo.

The judge chose him to compose the new fanfare for Warner Bros. The film debut in Italy on April 21, 2021 with the movie Non Mi Uccidere.

The television counterpart to the film premiered earlier on March 4, 2021 with Young Sheldon Season 4 Episode 10, “Cowboy Aerobics and 473 Grease-Free Bolts”.

This fanfare was introduced as the opening theme to Warner Bros. movies in 1998 and to its television shows’ closing logos in 2003 (albeit in a different key), but it now has a more powerful buildup, and the first notes are played on guitar rather than a piano.
