Steven Tyler’s Daughter Mia Claims Her Father Put Scarves on Microphones at Gigs

Mia Tyler is sharing new information about her father Steven Tyler.
During the Monday, April 14 episode of the Sibling Revelry podcast, the actress/model, 46, provided some insight into why her father allegedly put scarves on his microphone during concerts.
While discussing how her father was “extremely wild” during her childhood, she also claimed she knew why he supposedly accessorized his mics.

“The story of why he has scarves on his microphone is because he liked to hide his pills and whatnot,” Mia said. “So he could do them live on stage.”
She elaborated further about how the setup allegedly worked.
“He would have little pockets sewn so he could be on stage and just take whatever it was that he was [ingesting],” Mia said.
She then noted how the Aerosmith bandleader, 77, was “pretty wild” during that time.
A rep for Steven has not yet responded to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
The “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” hitmaker has publicly struggled with substances over the years.
In May 2022, Aerosmith revealed that Tyler had entered a treatment facility after he relapsed following 10 years of sobriety.
At the time, a rep confirmed to PEOPLE that he had since completed rehab.
“He’s doing extremely well and looking forward to being back on stage,” they said.
TMZ reported that Steven reportedly left the facility just one week prior and completed more than the 30 days required.
The “Amazing” musician relapsed less than a month before his band was set to re-launch their Las Vegas residency.
In a statement, the rockers said that Steven had voluntarily entered a treatment program to “concentrate on his health and recovery.”
They added that Steven relapsed after having foot surgery to prepare for returning to the stage and the necessary pain management that came with the procedure.
At the time, the band canceled tour dates in June and July and planned to resume performing in September.
“We are devastated that we have inconvenienced so many of you, especially our most loyal fans who often travel great distances to experience our shows,” Aerosmith said at the time.
In a 2019 interview with GQ, Steven opened up about his sobriety journey — from Aerosmith’s hard-partying early days to his unsuccessful rehab stints in the 1980s.

“I don’t think there were any bands that even knew what sober was,” Steven told the publication. “I couldn’t do enough. I couldn’t get high enough.”
It wasn’t until 1988 when his bandmates and management staged an intervention in 1988 that he got sober.
“They thought, ‘Get the lead singer sober, and all our problems would be over.’ So I got sober and, you know, it took me many years to get over the anger of them sending me to rehab while they went on vacation,” Tyler told Haute Living. “But today, because of that moment… I am grateful and owe a thanks to them for my sobriety.”
