Snowboarder, 26, Disappears at Colorado Ski Resort, Authorities Say

It’s been nearly one week since authorities began searching for a 26-year-old man who disappeared while snowboarding at a Colorado ski resort.
The Eagle County Sheriff’s Office said officials were informed of the snowboarder’s disappearance in the afternoon of Friday, Feb. 14.
Vail Resorts said in a statement that Ski Patrol was alerted to the snowboarder’s disappearance around 3:15 p.m. local time by “a guest looking for their skiing partner,” according to CBS affiliate KCNC-TV.
Sergeant Bob Silva of the sheriff’s office identified the victim to ABC affiliate KMGH-TV as Connor Gill, of the Denver metro area.
Gill was last seen heading toward the Avanti route area just before 9 a.m. on Friday, according to the report.
The 26-year-old man disappeared as the area was hit by a massive snowstorm that, Fox affiliate KDVR reported, dropped more than two feet of snow in parts of Vail.
Gill is 6 feet tall and weighs 195 lbs. with brown hair and brown eyes, according to KMGH-TV.

The snowboarder “was last seen wearing an orange ski suit that has blue accents on the top part and a grey helmet” while “riding on a Salomon snowboard,” the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office said.
The Vail Mountain Rescue team and Vail Ski Patrol responded to the call “based on the parties last known location” and knowing the area where the missing individual “commonly rode,” authorities added.
Several groups and agencies are assisting with the search, according to the sheriff’s office, including the Vail Mountain Rescue Group, Vail Police Department, Vail Mountain Ski Patrol and Vail Communication Center.
Vail Resorts did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
Anyone with information about Gill’s disappearance is asked to call Vail Dispatch at 970-479-2201.
