Salma Hayek shares her hack for covering gray hair

Ready to cover grays in the blink of an eye?
While sharing her makeup routine for Vogue’s “Beauty Secrets” series on Monday, Salma Hayek used Benefit Cosmetics Roller Lash Mascara to cover her silver roots.
“I do not dye my hair,” she told the outlet. “If you choose not to dye your hair and you have the white [hairs] like I do …. I use mascara.”

Hayek previously posted about her hack on Instagram in 2024, writing, “We don’t gatekeep hair tips here.” (Her hairstylist, Miguel Martin Perez, prefers using a product like L’Oréal’s Magic Root Cover Up, a favorite of Bethenny Frankel’s that’s actually designed to be used on hair.)
Mascara’s hardly the only tool in Hayek’s bag of beauty tricks, however. Below, shop more highlights from the star’s skincare and makeup routine, from a double-masking hack to her favorite foundation.

For a skincare “double whammy,” as she calls it, Hayek layers her go-to gel eye masks with Dr. Nigma’s Treatment Mask No. 1.

Hayek said she searched for years to find a foundation that “looks natural” while still covering any blemishes.

“Merit always does the things that are very natural,” said the actress, who opts for “practical and fast” products like this creamy cheek tint.
“I don’t want to look overproduced,” she explained. “Everybody is too overproduced — and they look gorgeous, but that’s not the look I want for myself.”

Hayek’s far from the only star to name-drop this brightening YSL pen in a Vogue video; Jennifer Lopez and Zoë Kravitz have also sung its praises.

The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover girl says this sparkly shadow stick from Victoria Beckham provides “the perfect shimmer” and is “very easy to put on.”

Another of Hayek’s hacks? Layering Makeup by Mario’s suede lipstick and Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Big Lip Plumpgasm Gloss.
