Kelly Clarkson ‘had a bit of a breakdown’ over fears of quitting her talk show: report

Behind these hazel eyes, Kelly Clarkson is “tormented.”
The “American Idol” alum is “conflicted” about whether or not to renew her eponymous talk show’s contract with NBC next year, according to a new report.
The Daily Mail claimed the singer, 43, is concerned about what will happen to the hundreds of staffers if she bows out.
The Grammy winner allegedly had “a bit of a breakdown” during a recent meeting with producers about the future of the “Kelly Clarkson Show,” which began in 2020.
“She was emotional,” an unnamed staff member told the outlet Thursday. “She was worried about the staff.
“She’s made it very clear that she doesn’t want her decisions to affect all of our livelihoods,” the individual added. “But it’s a bit late for that now.”
The staffer slammed Clarkson for “cringe[y]” comments about wanting to return to her music career — while her five-year show is still running.
“It makes the public feel like she doesn’t want to be here. And if she doesn’t want to be here, why should they tune in?” the source pointed out.
“It’s just not a good look, you know?” the insider continued. “You don’t want the person whose name is on the show to be trashing the show. Some things just need to be family business.”
The staff member encouraged the songwriter to “give [them] plenty of notice if she decides to bail” as the “decent thing to do.”
The employee concluded, “Everyone understands that she’s gone through some things, and we’re all very sympathetic.”
Clarkson’s rep did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
Page Six revealed in April that Clarkson wishes to leave the “grueling” gig in order to “spend more time” in the South with her and ex-husband Brandon Blackstock‘s children — daughter River, 10, and son Remington, 9.
Clarkson abruptly exited the show for two weeks in March over a “personal matter,” and we heard this gave her “a moment of clarity” about potentially leaving New York City.
The insider said, “She has her priorities, and her family comes first.”
Despite rampant rumors that Hoda Kotb is being considered as Clarkson’s replacement, the former “Today” show anchor set the record straight in May.
“Do you know the only place I would ever come back is?” Kotb, 60, asked her former colleagues last month. “Right here. This is the spot. There’s no place like home.”
The journalist did not address the speculation while appearing on Clarkson’s show Monday.
