Justin Baldoni’s Lawyer Calls Blake Lively’s Amended Complaint ‘Underwhelming’

Justin Baldoni‘s attorney is criticizing the amended complaint Blake Lively just filed against her It Ends With Us costar.

Lively, 37, filed an updated version of her original December 2024 lawsuit against Baldoni, 41, late on Tuesday, Feb. 18. The amended complaint notably claims that two other actors on the film have agreed to testify to their own experiences with Baldoni’s alleged behavior on set.

On Wednesday, Feb. 19, Baldoni’s attorney Bryan Freedman responded to Lively’s amended complaint in a statement in which he said Lively’s lawsuit has a “lack of actual evidence.”

“Her underwhelming amended complaint is filled with unsubstantial hearsay of unnamed persons who are clearly no longer willing to come forward or publicly support her claims,” Freedman said, adding that his clients “have been transparent in providing receipts, real time documents and video showing a completely different story than what has been manipulated and cherry picked to the media.”

“Since documents do not lie and people do, the upcoming depositions of those who initially supported Ms. Lively’s false claims and those who are witnesses to her own behavior will be enlightening,” Freedman added. “What is truly uncomfortable here is Ms. Lively’s lack of actual evidence.”

Lively’s amended complaint claims that Lively first “reported her concerns regarding unwelcome and inappropriate behavior” by Baldoni and his Wayfarer Studios co-chief Jamey Heath to a Sony executive on May 26, 2023. In addition, it alleges that another female cast member reported similar concerns to that same Sony executive, which Baldoni allegedly acknowledged in writing on June 1, 2023, and that a second female cast member “confided to Ms. Lively that she too felt uncomfortable on set” while the movie was still in production.

According to Lively’s amended complaint, her legal team chose not to name certain witnesses in order to “protect innocent bystanders rather than exposing them to further harm” amid the “dangerous climate of threats, harassment and intimidation” surrounding the case, the complaint reads. However, the witnesses gave Lively “permission to share the substance of their communications,” the complaint says, and agreed “they will testify and produce responsive documents in the discovery process.”

Lively and Baldoni’s ongoing legal battle is currently set to go to trial in civil court on March 9, 2026. Attorneys for both sides most recently indicated in a Feb. 13 letter filed in New York federal court on Feb. 13 that engaging in settlement talks at this stage would prove “inappropriate” and “premature.”

Baldoni previously amended his own countersuit against Lively, Ryan Reynolds and their publicist, which he published on a website for his followers to access his court filings, on Jan. 31.
