Ellen DeGeneres Shares Rare Look at Brunette Hair While Mowing Her Lawn

Ellen DeGeneres is proving why every makeover is a good confidence booster.

Months after the former talk show host, 67, was spotted sporting shorter brown hair, fans got a closer glimpse of it in an Instagram video on Sunday, May 4.

In the clip, DeGeneres is seen riding a lawn mower as she attempts to cut the lawn of what appears to be her home in the U.K. A source confirmed to PEOPLE in November 2024 that the comedian moved to the English countryside.

The video begins with DeGeneres confidently attempting to complete the task, with a text overlay that reads, “How it started.” After she rides off-screen, a new clip shows the former television personality’s lawn mower being pushed up a hill with the assistance of a man.

After what appeared to be DeGeneres’ wife, Portia de Rossi, 52, could be heard giggling in the background, the video cuts to a third clip showing DeGeneres and the man pushing the lawn mower together. A new text overlay explains that it was “How it ended.”

DeGeneres explained in the post’s caption, “Portia thought it would be fun to film my first time on the mower. She was right.”

While her new hair wasn’t the video’s focus, it was fully displayed as DeGeneres completed the household task.

Fans first saw the hair transformation in a Nov. 13, 2024, joint Instagram post from British pub The Farmer’s Dog and singer-songwriter Natalie Imbruglia. The Farmer’s Dog is a pub in the Cotswolds owned by English TV presenter and journalist Jeremy Clarkson.

In the clip, with her hair changed, DeGeneres could be seen enjoying an intimate live music performance alongside her wife and friends. PEOPLE confirmed that DeGeneres had moved soon after the video was posted.

“Ellen was in England house hunting in the beginning of October. She ended up finding a house that she loved and purchased it shortly after,” a source told PEOPLE in late November.

Since the move, DeGeneres has periodically shared updates of her new life on social media. Last month, she shared a picture of her wife taking a picture of a double rainbow from their farmhouse.
