Before making it big in Hollywood, Elizabeth Banks had a wide assortment of jobs.
While appearing on the Wednesday, May 28, edition of The Kelly Clarkson Show, Banks, 51, opened up about what she was doing before becoming an actress.
“I started working really young. I’ve done everything. I was a waitress for a decade,” she said. “I also was a chambermaid at a bed and breakfast.”
After host Kelly Clarkson asked if she worked at a castle since the term sounded “formal,” Banks said that it meant that she “cleaned toilets.”

“I just have some advice for people who stay in hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts, whatever,” she said. “Please stop flushing things other than tepee down toilets.”
“Like the amount of condoms and tampons I had to dig out of toilets as a 17-year-old is shocking to me,” said Banks, who agreed it helped her build character.
“Kelly, I can go anywhere,” said Banks. “It’s not glamorous this life you lead. You end up going a lot of crazy places and I’m like, ‘I’ve been worse.’ ”
Banks shares two children with husband Max Handelman — Felix, 14, and Magnus, 12. The actress opened up to PEOPLE earlier this month about whether they would ever follow in her footsteps and go into acting.
“If my kids decide to get into acting, which they have currently no interest in, then I would be thrilled to ever do anything with them if they would deign to hang out with me,” Banks said. “It’s unlikely. In fact, it would have to be a paying job for them to actually want to hang out with me.”
Her appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show came ahead of the Thursday, May 29, premiere of her Prime Video series The Better Sister.

The series features Banks and Jessica Biel as estranged sisters, Nicky (Banks) and Chloe (Biel). The sisters are brought back together after Chloe’s husband, Adam (Corey Stoll), is brutally murdered, and his teenage son, Ethan (Maxwell Acee Donovan), who was raised by Chloe and Adam but is actually Nicky’s son, is the prime suspect.
