Becky G Reveals Her Nickname on Set of Mountain Dew’s 2025 Super Bowl Ad (Exclusive)

Becky G had a blast on the set of her Mountain Dew 2025 Super Bowl commercial.

In an exclusive conversation with PEOPLE ahead of the release of the ad’s teaser, the singer opens up about her excitement for the commercial — and the nickname she was given while on set.

Before Becky, 27, even started filming, she fell in love with the commercial thanks to a clever pun at the end of the creative team’s slideshow deck.

“At the very end of the deck there was one slide that said, ‘Thank Dew.’ And I was like, ‘That’s it. This is the reason why,’ ” says the star. “I’m really proud to be doing this with Mountain Dew because there’s just a certain cloth that I’m cut from when it comes to things that make me smile.”

The good vibes continued through the end of the shoot, she recounts, when she left set with a “super cool” nickname: “Super Bowl Becky.”

“Has a little swing to it,” the performer tells PEOPLE. “I was like, ‘Oh, I’m taking that one.’ ”

The Latin Grammy Award winner — who rose to fame in 2014 with the release of her single “Shower” — has just closed out a banner year, putting out her fourth album, Encuentros, in October and finishing a headlining tour in November. But she’s not slowing down: On top of Super Bowl commercials, she’s already thinking about making new music and touring in new destinations, she tells PEOPLE.

“2025 is a year of fun,” says Becky. “I’m ready to have fun this year and make more music from that kind of space. So we’ll see what happens and what comes of it.”

When asked about potential future musical collaborators, she says there are “so many” artists she would love to work with. “There’s a lot of really cool things taking place — like trips I have planned — to be in the space with all of my peers,” says the star of her plans for the year.

Becky adds that on her “vision board” for the year is to be a “fan first” — “allowing myself to be that before I am Becky G.”

“It’s important to be inspired and to fill your cup of inspiration, she continues. “I’m not like, ‘Just because this person is really big right now, we need to collab.’ Some people work that way, but for me, we catch each other at the same place at the same time — the vibes are right, we exchange info, then something happens.”
