Ariana Grande Says Stevie Nicks Is a ‘Warm, Beautiful, Good Witch in Every Sense’
Meeting Stevie Nicks was what “dreams” were made of for Ariana Grande.
In a new interview on the Las Culturistas podcast with Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers, the “We Can’t Be Friends” singer, 31, opened up about meeting the Fleetwood Mac icon, 76, while Grande was hosting Saturday Night Live on Oct. 12.
“She had written me a letter a few years ago,” the Wicked star said of Nicks. “So we had spoken once before but we had never met.”
The Fire Island actor, 34, who was on set at SNL when Grande and the “Silver Springs” singer finally met, then cut in to describe their encounter.
“Ari and I were already on the floor just like giggling being stupid, and then they bring Stevie on, and I just kind of immediately knew to back away,” Yang said.
Impersonating Nicks, he continued: “Stevie took Ari’s hands and was like, ‘I have to tell you that I loved your video for ‘We Can’t Be Friends.’ It reminded me of so many people that I have come across in my life.”
Rogers, 34, then added that the song “probably” reminded Nicks of Lindsey Buckingham.
The “7 Rings” hitmaker described meeting the “Landslide” artist as a “surreal moment.”
“I couldn’t believe it. I couldn’t believe anything. She’s so kind, so kind. And so cool and so beautiful. I can’t I can’t really get over what that was like spending those few days together and sharing the space with her,” Grande said.
She added: “Just such a warm, beautiful, good witch in every sense.”
Grande then said Nicks was “overly generous” and “overly kind.”
“I love meeting people and talking, but sometimes I can go and overstay my welcome — I feel it. And I felt like I wasn’t doing that, and she just wanted to keep going with me,” she said.

During Grande’s second time hosting SNL, she delivered a monologue packed with celebrity impressions of Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus and Gwen Stefani. She also starred in hilarious sketches where she impersonated the likes of Jennifer Coolidge and Céline Dion.
That evening, Nicks — who was the show’s musical guest — returned to the stage to perform her latest single, “The Lighthouse” and she later sang her 1981 track, “Edge of Seventeen.”
